What is "Consult Me!"?
Consult Me! is a unique HIPAA compliant consultation and second opinion system that uses the power of being a central social platform of thousands of Radiology professionals who are interconnected. Like Facebook or LinkedIn you can connect/befriend your known specialists or former colleagues you worked with and share directly your DICOM studies - with a click of the mouse button! No installation or plugin is needed, just upload the DICOM study via our secure, HIPAA compliant system and communicate directly with your known contacts - doesn't matter if they are around the corner or on the other side of this planet. A messaging system and instant/real time chat offer a variety of communication methods so that you get your second opinion as soon as possible.
Is Consult Me! or Radiolopolis a teleradiology service/company?
No, we provide a long awaited solution by offering an interface for professionals who can meet and exchange each other in a way they would otherwise in a hospital setting - without having the luxury and comfort of a hospital setting. This system allows the consultant taking a quick look at a case and providing an opinion, without an official report. You may request such official reports and other services from the consultant OUTSIDE this system. We do not provide such services. If there are any legal or insurance concerns, then these need to be directly communicated between the consult requester and consultant. Again: we do not provide medical advice - we do provide a communication alternative between professionals.
How many studies may I upload?
This depends on your subscription plan, which starts at 1 study/case upload to over 50 per month. But even if you have maxed out your uploads you may add more by adding another subscription plan.
How many studies/files can I upload within "one case" of my subscription?
You may upload unlimited studies/files within one single upload/case. All files need to be in one directory and selected at once. After that upload any further upload counts as a new "case" and will be displayed separately from the previous uploaded cases.
Do I have to pay extra for each uploaded study?
No, all studies in your selected subscription plan are included. And if you need more, you can add another subscription plan.
How many consults can I request per study?
As many as you wish! Yes...AS MANY AS YOU WISH! You can select one, two or (theoretically) all of your connections for a consult. Just click on the "Ask for a consult" icon under your respective study and a window opens with a list of all your connections. You can then select any of these and they will be notified immediately.
How do I ask for a consult?
In the "Ask for a consult" tab, just click on the "Ask for a consult" icon under your respective study and a window opens with a list of all your connections. You can then select any of these and they will be notified immediately. Even after you already asked a person you can ask later on more people for a third and fourth opinion. There are no limits!
How can I get the experts of my choice to connect with me?
If you know someone who you believe is valuable for you to consult with - but might live far away and is not available next door, just ask him or her to become member at Radiolopolis (for free). Then you can "become friend" with them and they will show up on your "connection/friend" list. As soon as you are connected you can send this person a consultation request at any time.
Does the consultant need to have a subscription?
No, that's the beauty: only the person who seeks for a consult needs to be subscribed.
How fast do I get the consult?
The consultant is notified of your consult request instantly via email and also or internal messaging system. Communication and second opinions are thus dependent on the consultant's schedule and reaction time and can be delivered as soon as within a few minutes.
Do I have to pay extra for each separate consult request?
No, you may request as many requests as you wish. Of course you may offer your consultant a fee for such service if you don't feel comfortable asking for free. You set the price and the consultant can accept or make a counter offer.
Can I pay my consultant if I don't feel comfortable asking for free?
Yes, we offer an option that you can offer an amount you think it's appropriate for such a request. The consultant receives that offer and can either accept or make a counter offer. We leave YOU in charge - no insurance or government should tell you how much your service is worth.
How important is that payment option?
Most of your "friends / connections" will be likely not requesting any compensation. However, there could be the situation where you want to request a second opinion from some member of Radiolopolis who you might not personally know but who might be a distinguished expert in one area. Asking that person would increase your chance to get a consultation - especially if this includes complex questions, you might want to offer some financial compensation?
Can I be a consultant?
Yes, in fact by being a member in this community for Radiology professionals you are already a potential consultant. Anybody you connected with can ask you for your second opinion and consultation.
Can I charge for my service/consultation?
Yes, we offer such option that the consult requester can offer a certain amount. If that amount seems to be justified you can just accept or make even a counter offer for a different fee.
How do I get paid?
We offer PayPal as a payment gateway for you. To receive payments, please provide your PayPal email under the "My payment information" tab. Don't worry - we don't ask for a password. The email is only necessary to automatically send consult payments to your PayPal account. A 20% service fee of the paid amount will be automatically deducated when you receive your payment.

Can I ask for official reports?
This system is purely on a peer to peer basis and rather like as you would ask yor colleague next door in a hospital for their opinion. We do not provide an official reporting system since this would open difficult legal and bureaucratic doors. However, you may request such official reports and other services from the consultant OUTSIDE this system. If there are any legal or insurance concerns, then these need to be directly communicated between the consult requester and consultant. Again: we do not provide medical advice - we do provide a communication alternative between professionals.
Do I need to install a program or plugin to be able to use Consult Me!?
That's the beauty of our unique system: No installation or plugin is needed, just upload the DICOM study via our secure, HIPAA compliant system via the web browser. This makes you completely workstation and location independent and you can request consults from wherever you are.
How does the DICOM upload work?
Go on the "Upload study" tab and click on the browse button. This opens a window in which you can browse on your computer or CD/DVD for your study directory. Select all DICOM files of that particular study (CTRL+A on Windows computers) and then clcik on the "Upload" button. You wiull then see a progress bar telling you how far the upload progressed. As soon as the files are uploaded you'll receive a confirmation message and a link to the consult section where you can find the right consultant for your study.
Can I upload my DICOM studies directly from my workstation?
Yes, you can! You can either upload the studies from a CD/DVD or from any locatio of the computer.
Is the program HIPAA compliant?
Yes, the DICOM upload works via a secured connection and the DICOM viewer is HIPAA compliant and FDA approved.
Are the studies de-identified?
Yes, the "other side" (consultant) will not see any patient information.
What if I uploaded the maximum amount of studies for my subscription period but need more?
If you maxed out your upload limit for your subscription, you can subscribe to the next higher subscription plan and these will be added to your maximum allowed uploads.
Is the subscription plan a one time fee/per occurrence or on a monthly basis?
Subscription plans are on a monthly basis and will be automatically renewed. So, don't worry if forgot to renew - we'll take care of it, so you have always the peace of mind to ask for help whenever you need it!
Can I cancel my subscription plan at any time?
Yes, you may cancel your subscription plan at any time and the renewal will be then stopped.
Is my paid subscription plan refundable?
We are sorry, but we cannot offer refunds for paid subscriptions.
