How do I view a study?
Consult Me! offers a unique web-based, HIPAA compliant and FDA approved DICOM viewer, that allows the consultant and requester to viewing the study directly online and without any plugin or installation necessary. The study can be reveiwed at any time and location - workstation independent!
To view a study, click the monitor symbol of the respective study. A new window opens with the main part being the DICOM viewer. The study should be displayed immediately, but speed also depends on your internet connection. The viewer provides mostly used features such as scroll, window/level, measuring, play/video function and more. We kept the functionality to what is necessary - to avoid too much confusion with gazillions of buttons. To the right of the viewer you will notice a "DISCUSSION" tab. When clicked on that, the discussion section opens by sliding to the left. There, the requester can start an individual discussion with each consultant (individually) and the consultant with the requester. The communication is saved and each recipient will be also notified via email and our internal messaging system that the other party has posted a new comment. To give this communication system another edge, we also provide an instant, real time chat. When clicked on the person's profile picture (avatar), a chat box opens in the bottom right corner of the screen. If the other party is online, you can directly communicate with that person and even also share other files.

How do I share a study / ask for a consult?
Consult Me! offers an intuitive solution to consult and to be consulted at the user's convenience and at any time and location.
To request a consult, go to the "Ask for a consult / my studies" section. After you uploaded a study, you will see that study with icons to view the study in a DICOM viewer and also to request a consult/second opinion. Click on the "Ask for consult" icon under your respective study and a dynamic window opens. That window shows a list of all your connections you have on Radiolopolis. You may either browse through these connections or search for a specific name. You may check one or several people, e.g. if you want not only a second but a third, fourth or fifth opinion. There are no limitations! You may also offer a certain fee/compensation you would like to pay for the consultant's service. This is optional and might be advised for people you are not that close to and feeling uncomfortable asking for a free consult. You may provide some information with that consult request by clicking on "Add a comment" or send immediately that request. After submitting, all asked consultants will receive automatically an email notification and will be also notified in our internal messaging system.
As soon as the consultant has responded, you will receive an email notification and also a message in our internal messaging system. You may then communicate with your consultant via several channels - the internal messaging system, a study specific private discussion or a real time chat. More about that can be found in this FAQ section under the tab explaining how to view a study.

How do I create connections?
Radiolopolis is the largest global online network for Radiology professionals. We provide a sophisticated search and browse system for you to find the right person you need. By the way: if a connection is online at the same time as you on Radiolopolis, you will notice it in your instant chat module in the bottom right of your browser window - indicated by how many people (you are connected with) are online. You may also directly communicate in a real time chat with that person.

How do I manage access permissions to a study?

Sophisticated dashboard for access control

Consult Me! provides under the "Ask for a consult / my studies" tab a sophisticated dashboard with a clean overview who you asked for consultation, including individual or global access permission controls.
After you asked somebody for a consult, you automatically granted that person (de-identified/HIPAA compliant)viewing rights for that particular study. Each person who has granted access rights is highlighted green and the checkbox under "Allow access" is marked. You can decide at any time to revoke access rights to any person by checking the checkbox under "Deny access". When hitting the "Update permissions" button, the denied user is then highlighted in red, so you can easily discern based on colors who has access rights and who does not.

How can I become a consultant?
It can't be easier! Nothing needs to be done - just be available! Let your connections know that they can ask you whenever they need you. The system takes care of the rest and notifies you if somebody needs your help. This system offers you even a second income venue by offering you to be paid for your consultations. Just let the consult requester know your price... Payment is directly between you and the consult requester. No reimbursement issues by insurances! YOU are in charge - not insurances or the government!

As soon as somebody asks you for your consult, you'll be notified via email and also our internal messaging system. You can review all consult requests in your dedicated "Consult requests" section.
