New! Neuro PET tutorial and cases:
Craniopharyngioma

A large enhancing mass was demonstrated in the suprasellar region on MRI scan. The FDG uptake in the mass is inhomogeneous. The periphery of the heterogeneously enhancing component of the mass has minimal FDG uptake indicating low malignant potential. However, in the center of the heterogeneously enhancing component and corresponding to a focus of uniform enhancement on MRI scan, there is increased FDG uptake indicating aggressive feature. If tissue biopsy is planned, biopsy of the center more intensely enhancing region might get better yield. In the area of high T2 signal along the bilateral optic tracts noted on the MRI scan, there is minimal FDG uptake, comparable to the periphery of the larger, more inferior component of the mass. The overall pattern of the lesion is more compatible with a glioma with mixed features and a more aggressive component at the center than a germ cell metastasis.
Tracer uptake in the rest of the cerebral cortex, subcortical structure, cerebellum are unremarkable.
