Shoulder to Shoulder (www.shouldertoshoulder.org): is a private, non-profit, non-governmental organization formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1996. It began providing health care services in western Intibuca, Honduras in 1990. It formed Hombro a Hombro, a grassroots community-based, non-profit NGO registered in Honduras. The mission is to develop educational and health programs to help poor rural communities in Honduras achieve sustainable development and improve the overall health and well being of its residents. There are 13 academic health center/community partnerships in the US. Shoulder to Shoulder receives financial assistance from private donors, foundations and the constituent academic health centers. In times of unsustainable health costs the role of the Radiologist has to be not only to go for more and more exams but also to be
aware of unncessary follow ups and uncessary exams which can be eliminated if we reflect the data we have and follow guidlines of
major opinionmakers. Good example: Fleischner society of Thoracic Imaging and recommendation to follow lung nodules.
This is an effort to compare certain habits of imaging and reflect if these are evidenced based and sort out habits which are unnecessary and even worse also are a source of unncessary radiation.
