How often do we face the situation, that we want/have to present a lecture, talk or want to write a paper about specific entities but we don't have enough images of that specific entity to show?!
Of course, you could copy images from books, papers or websites but mostly these images are copyrighted. It is then often very cumbersome to contact the original author to ask for permission to use his/her images or it might be even costly, because publishing houses require a fee for usage.

Wouldn't it be great if a "market place" would exist, where colleagues could submit a list of all THEIR cases and share this list of diagnoses with others? I mean - just the diagnoses - not even the images. Why? Wait: This way a huge database would be created, in which people can just search for entities/diagnoses. The initial work of the contributors would be minimal, because only the diagnosis would be submitted - no complicated image editing/submission case preparation etc. - only the diagnosis.

On the other side, the user in need for images searches for specific diagnoses and finds a list of colleagues who have these images. Then, the searching user just selects and contacts these users and can go directluy in contact with the image owners. This way, not only a more "personal" approach in the sense of a Radiology community would be offered but also the copyright issues/acknowledgements for the contributing author.

I would like to know from you people, if you think, this might be also a good idea and useful approach.

Thank you very much!

It is done! "Dare to Share" is in the Beta phase!
I would like to ask for beta testers to check the program before I officially launch it in Radiolopolis.
Volunteers are welcome!

Sumer,
we try to set up two modes: a search function for requests and a submit function for authors (owner of the material). Similar like a "market place". But this sounds too commercial - it should be open and free.

Similar could be done with lectures. The biggest challenge is to find enough contributers. There are not too many people on this world who want to share without material compensation - that's why Radiolopolis is a big hope to find these few people.

Great idea Roland, may be we can even put up requests if someone has given similar lecture somewhere ...
