CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Assistant Professor of Cardiology &
Head Cardiovascular Imaging Department
Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Lahore.
(May 2003 to Date)
I am working as assistant Professor of Cardiology since 3rd May, 2003. My job includes managing patients in out-patients, in-patients and emergency departments. I am responsible for Department of Cardiovascular Imaging which comprises Cardiovascular Computed Tomomgraphy and Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine divisions. Cardiovascular Computed Tomgraphy division is equipped with state of the art GE Lightspeed VCT capable of doing all cardiac and noncardiac studies. More than 2000 coronary and peripheral angiographies are performed in the department under my supervision. Nuclear Medicine division is also very well equipped with two state of the art dual head gamma cameras. A whole range of Nuclear Medicine procedures are carried out in this department. More than 6000 planar and SPECT studies are performed in this department annually. The department is actively involved in clinical and radiopharmaceutical research. A new myocardial perfusion agent furifosmin has been successfully tested in this department in collaboration with Institute of Nuclear Medicine London, UK. This department affiliated with University of Health Sciences Lahore, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences Nilore Islamabad and College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan Karachi for post graduate education. The department has been approved for FCPS-II Nuclear Medicine training.
I am actively involved in clinical research and teaching of postgraduate students in the field of cardiovascular imaging.
