• Palazzo Limousine Service: I was employed there from 1996-2004. I performed airport runs for clients, detailing/cleaning vehicles, and various other odd jobs. I would have preferred a medical-related job, but - due to time and economic constraints, this limousine job suited my schedule so that I could volunteer in various ER's as well as shadow 70+ surgical procedures.
• Sullivan University: I was employed there from 1996-1997, and performed landscaping and maintenance work.
• Hurstbourne Country Club: I was a busser during the summer of 1996.
• web master for the U of L SOM Plastic Surgery Research website: 2004-present. (http://www.plasticsurgeryresearch.louisville.edu/)
• In college, I founded: the undergraduate affiliate of ASBMB http://www.asbmb.org/ASBMB/site.nsf?Open); and, I cofounded: the undergraduate affiliate of Phi Delta Epsilon http://www.louisville.edu/rso/phide/.
• Secretary and a major recruiter for Society of Undergraduate Chemistry Students [SUCS] (v. i.) and helped organized cookouts fostering professor-student interaction and potential research discussion opportunities in a less formal setting.
• I helped set up science fairs and demonstrations at local schools through SUCS and other organizations; and was also the impetus to raise money to buy supplies/gifts for SAE fraternity brothers stationed in Iraq.
• Planned, recruited and organized the following:
a. For 23 members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and PhiDE fraternities, and the Society of Undergraduate Chemistry Students (all of which I am a member), plus the Minority Association of Premedical Students, to work for Habitat for Humanity: December 17, 2003;
b. The opportunity for my peers to gain critical/practical pre-med experience, and to establish preliminary professional networks as part of U of L Medical School's Standardized Patient Program;
c. Coordinated and found donors for several Red Cross blood drives at U of L;
d. Arranged shadowing surgical opportunities for other students; arranged speakers, primarily MDs, to present topics of their choice to PhiDE.
• I am proficient in the use of computers and my particular interests involve: Internet Resources, medical imaging, digital photography and its applications to medicine. [NOTE: I am the web master for the U of L SOM’s Division of Plastic Surgery Research web page.
• Tutoring other students.
• Served as a surrogate father to an orphan and experienced the joy of teaching this disadvantaged child to read.
• Volunteered in Floyd (County, Indiana) Memorial Hospital ER every other Friday night for several hours in 2002-2004, and enlisted more than ten of my medical fraternity peers to also volunteer.
• Worked at various private, public, and "special needs" elementary and at-risk middle schools; plus, Saint Joseph's Orphanage, and various soup kitchens.
